Instrument calibration and validation and algorithm development for UV, visible, infrared
and microwave remote sensing instruments.
Dr. Lyu received his doctorate in Physics from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, in 1993. He received a team award in supporting GHRS research related to Hubble Space Telescope in 1992, another team award for putting together and organizing data archives for Astronomical Data Center in 1995, an outstanding performance award to support NASA Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) in March 1998, a NASA TRMM Group Achievement award in June 1998, a NASA Suomi NPP Development Team Group Achievement award in August 2012,
and a 2015 Exceptional Service Award for his support of JPSS/NPP ATMS/VIIRS Cal/Val &
Algorithm development. He works as both a senior scientist and a senior system engineer.
