Dr. Thomas is interested in climate variability and change, extreme climate events, and teleconnections. Her current research supports the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO)’s Reanalysis of EOS Observations for the National Climate Assessment project. She is investigating the applicability of the MERRA-2 reanalysis in various applied climate topics. Her current focus is on the large-scale weather associated with extreme climate events such as heat waves.
