Active and passive microwave remote sensing, with a focus on electromagnetic modeling of vegetation and sea surface.
Dr. Paolo de Matthaeis joined GESTAR in 2011. Prior to this, he worked with GEST at UMBC. He received the Laurea degree (Summa cum Laude) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", Italy, in 1991. From 1993-1994, he was with the European Space Agency at ESTEC in The Netherlands under the Young Graduate Trainee program. For 1994-1995 he received a grant from the Italian Space Agency (ASI) to conduct research at the Remote Sensing Laboratory at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". He earned his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, in 2005.
