On March 15, 2021, the journal Communication Arts announced that “Apollo in Real Time” was one of the winners of a CA Award of Excellence in their 2021 Interactive Competition. According to CA, this award is “one of the most coveted awards in the industry.” Apollo in Real Time presents the opportunity to experience the Apollo missions through the use of archival footage. When this digital creation aired online, “Over a million people from 224 different countries tuned in to witness history unfold exactly 50 years later.” Led by Ben Feist (JSC), this project also involved Goddard’s SVS visualizer Ernie Wright (606.4/USRA) and Dr. Noah Petro (GSFC), among many others.
